Cass Lake gets wild in the summer, and like any busy area, it needs law and order. That’s where the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol steps in. Last year alone, they put in 825 hours, issuing 48 tickets, 371 warnings, and conducting 373 safety inspections—all to keep the waters safe.
Sheriff Michael Bouchard makes it clear: this isn’t about writing tickets—it’s about protecting lives. Increased patrols have helped crack down on reckless boating, alcohol-related incidents, and the chaos at the Cass Lake sandbar.
The reality? Policing doesn’t stop at the shoreline. Whether it’s search and rescue, responding to emergencies, or handling out-of-control parties, these deputies are out there making a difference.
To all the officers out there who take the oath to serve, whether on the streets or the water—we see you, we back you. 💙

Hey there! My name is Niko, and I’m a patrol narcotics K-9 for the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. While I may not be a certified emotional support dog, I have a special talent for boosting morale wherever I go!
When I’m off duty, I love taking walks around the neighborhood and playing an intense game of fetch. But the moment it’s time to work, I’m all business—putting my best paw forward with every sniff to help keep our community safe.

We are heartbroken to share that Newark Police Officer Joseph Azcona, a dedicated five-year veteran of the force, was tragically killed in the line of duty on Friday evening. He was working to take illegal weapons off the streets when he was ambushed and shot while inside his vehicle.
Officer Azcona gave his life protecting his community—a true hero who answered the call to serve. Another officer was also injured in the exchange of gunfire but is expected to recover.
This devastating loss is a stark reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face daily. We must continue to stand behind those who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe.
Our hearts are with Officer Azcona’s family, his brothers and sisters in blue, and all those mourning this senseless tragedy. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
💙 Rest in peace, Officer Azcona. Your courage and dedication will always be remembered. 🖤
