đź’™ Mental Health Monday: PTSD in Law Enforcement đź’™
The trauma you witness on the job doesn’t stay at work. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a harsh reality for many officers who experience life-threatening situations or witness violent acts. The unseen scars are just as real as the visible ones.
👉 Symptoms of PTSD:
Flashbacks and nightmares
Increased anxiety and hypervigilance
Emotional numbing or isolation
Your service is heroic, but your well-being is important too. Don’t let the fear of stigma prevent you from getting help. Reach out to peer support programs, and remember, you’re not alone in this fight.

On December 2, 2015, Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, carried out a terrorist attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, killing 14 and injuring 22 others. The two had planned the attack, acquiring firearms, ammunition, and explosives. However, thanks to the swift and decisive response of law enforcement, the attackers were quickly identified and engaged in a shootout with officers, where both were killed.
This tragic event, which could have caused even greater harm, was mitigated by the heroic actions of law enforcement officers who acted under intense pressure. Local police, the FBI, and other agencies worked together seamlessly, neutralizing the threat and preventing further loss of life. Their bravery and professionalism in the face of such danger showed the strength and commitment of law enforcement to protect our communities, even in the most dire circumstances.
The memory of the 14 lives lost that day is honored, and the dedication of the first responders will never be forgotten. Their courage serves as a reminder of the critical role law enforcement plays in safeguarding public safety.
